FFI Missoula Press Release | December 19, 2022

“After a multimillion-dollar renovation, Missoula’s only hotel catering to business clientele and featuring an indoor waterpark has reopened as the Fairfield Inn and Suites by Marriott Missoula. This convenient limited-service property offers 100 newly appointed guestrooms and suites, 2600 square feet of modern meeting space and a great indoor waterpark featuring two three-story waterslides and a kiddie pool. The property is locally owned and operated by McGillis Hotels, a Missoula family with diverse business interests. The renovation was completed on November 13, 2022, and the hotel reopened as a Fairfield Inn and Suites on November 21st.

“We are so excited to get back to the business of serving guests after a 13-month renovation,” says General Manager Kim Sawyer. “Our newly transformed property truly offers something for everyone. We offer a beautifully simple stay for our customers, whether they are traveling for business or gathering for quality time with their families or even just traveling by themselves to take some time in gorgeous Missoula, Montana.”

Offering a host of amenities to appeal to all travelers, the Fairfield Inn and Suites of Missoula has a comfortable, contemporary feel that is still warm and inviting. The relaxing color scheme of blues and grays provides a calming feel as soon as you walk in the door. Seasoned Marriott guests will welcome the consistent comfort and décor they have come to expect. In contrast, regular guests under the property’s former brand will love the new feel and the fact that they will be greeted by the same friendly, familiar faces.

Managing partner, Jack McGillis, notes that he is “particularly happy we could keep our fantastic topographical arc welded sculpture of Montana displayed in our first-class Montana board room.”

Every guest will love having access to the seasonal outdoor seating area featuring lanterns and a gas fireplace. This will provide a fantastic place to kick back and enjoy Montana’s beautiful sunrises and scenery. Travelers seeking to maintain their workout routine on the road will have 24-hour access to the expanded fitness room. With a hydration station, five brand-new pieces of cardio equipment, free weights, stretching, and yoga equipment, kettlebells, and more, the fitness room is designed to meet the needs of anyone desiring a workout.

The new breakfast room in the hotel allows for a great space to enjoy the terrific breakfast buffet each morning. However, it also doubles as the perfect space to plug in and get some work done during the day or to gather with family during the evening over some great takeout or delivery from one of Missoula’s amazing restaurants.

Additional touches that provide extra convenience are the well-stocked market offering meals, snacks, drinks, toiletries, and supplies for guests on the go and a guest laundry room that features four machines with complimentary use to keep your wardrobe fresh and clean.

One of Missoula’s favorite hotels, the property has been open for nearly 20 years under a different brand. Throughout its entirety, the McGillis family has been involved in ownership and management, having taken full control in recent years. They love being a home away from home for travelers coming to the Garden City and are committed to always making guests feel at home when they are not.

Local professionals will be glad to have a great option for comfortable, convenient spaces to host conferences and events. The event space at the new Fairfield can accommodate 1 to 100 in various setups. The flexible space can be offered as one large ballroom or three smaller function spaces. The staff offers the convenience of arranging audio/visual needs and snacks and even catering if needed. The property is unique in that meeting clientele are free to work with their outside caterers if desired or bring their food and beverage if coordinated in advance. The upscale, comfortable Montana Room also offers a fantastic boardroom setting for smaller gatherings, complete with microphone, speaker, and camera functionality built-in…ideal for your conference calls and online events.

Of course, groups, teams, families, and party planners will be happy to hear that the property’s waterpark is still open. Having undergone a complete facelift, the facility is fresh and new and still THE place to have some water fun. With two three-story waterslides and a kiddie pool with a waterfall mushroom and a froggy waterslide, the young and young at heart will love splashing and sliding while the parents and grandparents enjoy a relaxing soak in the hot tub. Birthday parties are still offered and provide great value for families not wanting to deal with the hassle of having a party at home.

As long-standing members of the Missoula community, the McGillis family is excited about the future of Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Missoula. They love calling Missoula home, with its diverse population, vibrant cultural scene, unparalleled recreational opportunities, and superb foodie options. They have received numerous awards over the years, including 7 consecutive “Best of” awards from Trip Advisor, 9 “Best of” awards from their previous brand, and a “Heros of Hospitality” award from Destination Missoula. They are so grateful to their team for working hard to make this vision complete and are proud to have so many long-term employees who have made this journey with them.

The renovation was completed with Mauer Construction, Diversified Design Inc., and Marriott Hotels International. Upon reopening, the hotel became part of the world’s most recognized hotel chain, Marriott, and part of the leading hotel rewards program, Marriott Bonvoy.
